Participants were told they were likely to spend much of their future alone, they then read a story about someone and were asked to rate this person, finally they were asked if this person was suitable to work as a research assistant.
 
  Findings show that participants
  A) were in great need of friends and rated the person quite positively.
  B) were likely to give a neutral rating because they didn't really know the person's qualifications
  C) were more likely to ask for more evidence about the person before making a decision
  D) rated the applicant quite negatively.
  E) rated the applicant quite positively.
