RNA has many functions in a cell. Besides mRNA, which carries information from the genome to the translation machinery, and rRNA,

which is part of ribosomes and catalyzes the formation of peptide bonds, name three other types of RNA and describe the function of each.
What will be an ideal response?

Answer: There are more than three other functions of RNA. Answers may include:
transfer RNAs (tRNAs): These RNA molecules transfer the appropriate amino acid to the ribosome to be added to a peptide. They have anticodons that match with codons on mRNA.
small nuclear RNAs (snRNAs): These RNA molecules are part of the spliceosome that removes introns from pre-mRNA in eukaryotes.
small nucleolar RNAs (snoRNAs): These RNA molecules aid in the processing of rRNAs in the nucleolus of eukaryotes.
microRNAs (miRNAs): These RNA molecules regulate stability and translation of mRNAs.
small interfering RNAs (siRNAs): These RNA molecules inhibit production of viruses and transposable elements.
piwi-interacting RNAs (piRNAs): These RNA molecules suppress the spread of transposable elements in germ cells in animals.
lsong noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs): These RNA molecules may regulate chromatin, transcription, or RNA processing.
