ANSWER:
Vaccinations are parts of, or entire killed, pathogens. The components of the vaccination are not infectious, but they stimulate the immune system to recognize these parts of pathogens and then attack them if they are introduced subsequently during an infection. Healthcare workers are at high risk of exposure to infection and must be up to date on all recommended vaccinations to prevent contracting and transmitting these diseases.
