When applying EMLA cream, you should:
 
  1. Rub the EMLA into the skin until it is absorbed.
   2. Place on the skin and quickly remove.
   3. Leave the EMLA on for 24 hours before the procedure.
   4. Apply a large glob and cover with an occlusive dressing.
