Once a midwife has referred a woman to an obstetrician, the midwife is no longer involved in the care of the woman.

ANS: False

Referral for consultation does not imply that the clinical responsibility for the woman's care will be assumed by the secondary service. Also, midwifery care continues (for many women) after referral, even if clinical responsibility has been transferred to the obstetrician.
