In the peripheral isolate model of allopatric speciation, a species pair results. One species is the progenitor and one is the derivative species. How will these two species differ in geographical distribution, genetic diversity, and allele sharing?

The progenitor species will have a wider geographic distribution and greater genetic diversity than the derivative species. The alleles of the derivative species are likely to be a subset of those found in the progenitor species.
