One distinction between percentiles and standard scores is that percentiles

  a) express a raw score in terms of how many scored below it, while standard scores express a raw store in terms of the mean and standard deviation.
   b) always have a standard deviation of 10, while standard scores have a standard deviation based on the specific sample used.
   c) have a mean and median of 0, while standard scores have a mean and median of 100.
   d) express the raw score in terms of percent correct, while standard scores compare the raw score to the scores of a sample of examinees.
