ANS: C
DBI is not associated with intracranial hypertension immediately after injury; however, acute brain swelling caused by increased intravascular blood flow within the brain, vasodilation, and increased cerebral blood volume is seen often and can result in death.
Individuals who experience diffuse brain injury may experience visual impairments but do not experience loss of vision. A diffuse brain injury is not associated with arrhythmias. Individuals experiencing basilar skull fractures are at increased risk for the development of meningitis.
