Growth hormone is a protein signaling molecule.
a) cytoplasm of target cell
b) extracellular surface of target cell
c) intracellular surface of target cell
d) nucleus of target cell

growth hormones signal cells to amplify.. so wouldn't the signal have to come from outside the cell?
