1.  What is the least squares regression line, and what are the least squares point estimates?   Why is it dangerous to extrapolate outside the experimental region?

The method of least squares is a method to fit a straight line to a data set so that the sum of the squares of the residuals is a minimum. The residual is the vertical distance between a data point and the approximating curve. This is why it's called least squares.

We have an example where we find the equation of a scatter plot using this method. It's an excellent way to accurate find the equation of a line. Going outside the square would increase the margin of error.

Hope this helps you!
