Hello this is one of my last questions from this topic, this question involves creating a question in the area of sports and this is what I came up with/and with some research as well.
The height of a soccer ball that is kicked from the ground can be approximated by the function y = 20x^2 + 122x, where y is the height of the soccer ball in feet x seconds after it is kicked.
a) How long will the ball be in the air?
b) What is the soccer’s ball maximum height?
c) What is the domain and range?
Just wanted to know if my equation seems accurate/makes sense, and if it is solvable.
Wasn't sure about b) I was thinking of coming up with something else since I thought it was a little too simple, any thoughts/suggestions? Thanks.

the equation is no good, this parabola opens up because the a-term is positive. it doesn't match the trajectory of a soccer ball held down by gravity. Make your x-squared term negative

also, if you sub x as 1, you get a crazy unrealistic output Frowning Face

That's actually true.

So to change it, what do you suggest? @duddy

Well first here's what the function looks like graphed:

y = 20x^2 + 122x

Obviously makes no sense.

if we change it to y = -20x^2 + 122x, it starts to look better, but the ball travels way too high

We could modify it a bit more, but rather let's say the height is in inches Wink Face Therefore, at its maximum, the height is 186 inches (or approximately 15 feet). That makes sense, but be sure to mention that the height is in inches in your question!
