A patient comes to the emergency department complaining of shortness of breath and chest pain. The ABG results are: pH 7.45, PaCO2 35 mm Hg, PaO2 60 mm Hg, HCO3 24 mEq/L. What should be the nurse's first intervention?
1. Set up for intubation.
