Depressed people believe that their situation is permanent and uncontrollable.
Because they don’t expect to get better, they do nothing to improve their lives and therefore remain unhappy.
Learned helplessness is one possible explanation for these beliefs, but it cannot fully explain the depression.
Rumination or brooding about everything that is wrong in your life may lead to depression.
