Needs—When we need something, have an interest in it, or want it, we are especially likely to perceive it.
Beliefs—What we hold to be true about the world can affect our interpretation of ambiguous sensory signals.
Emotions—Emotions can also influence our interpretation of sensory information.
Expectations—Previous experiences lead to expectations or perceptual sets that can cause us to interpret sensory information in particular ways.
