A pain in this location is indicative of a duodenal ulcer. This location is also common for an ulcer, as it is the location where the chyme first enters the duodenum from the stomach after passing through the pylorus. If there is excess acid in the chyme, it can damage the inner lining of the duodenum, resulting in pain after eating, as is the case with a gastric ulcer.
