I have lots of friends and relatives with their MLS.  They majored in everything from English to history to art to science.  It doesn't really matter unless there's something specific you want to do with the degree.  The history major is working for national archives.  The science major is working for a university library as a research librarian.  The art major is working for an art museum as a librarian.  The English major is working for the public school system.  A business major might work as a corporate librarian.  It's a combination of skill sets that helps you end up where you do.
