Why didn't the Civil War bring an end to pervasive racial inequality in the South?
A) Blacks and poor whites worked together to vote in politicians to represent them.
B) Blacks weren't interested in getting involved in politics of the south and did not try to vote.
C) Immigrants from other countries moved in large numbers to the south and took job opportunities from blacks.
D) The planter class still had power enough to pass laws that kept blacks subordinate.
