Whats the difference between DNA methylation and Histone Modification in regards to x-chromosome inactivation. I joined a lab that will be studied epigenetic mechanisms and x chromosome inactivation in female mice. Anyways, I am still new and I have yet to the learn the material. Can someone explain to me what is DNA methylation and histone modification and how they are different? And what does it mean that histones can be covalently modified? (What does that have to do with x chromosome inactivation?
