77 -- Three hundred eighty-five of the 422 research participants are Caucasian. Twenty percent of Caucasians have a polymorphism on the cytochrome P450 CYP2C9 gene and consequently metabolize warfarin more slowly and take longer to achieve therapeutic dosing. Twenty percent of 385 patients is 77 people.
