What order of actions should the nurse complete when administering an analgesic medication transdermally to a male patient with heavy chest hair distribution?

2,3,1,4 -- After checking the Medication Administration Record, a transdermal patch is applied to a clean, dry area on the upper torso. If hair is present, it should be clipped before applying the patch. Apply the patch immediately after opening the package, ensuring complete contact with the skin, especially around the edges.
