There are three forces acting on an object: 4N to the left, 5N to the right and 3N to the left.  What is the net force acting on the object?

The net force acting on the object is 2N.

First, you have 4N + 3N = 7N to the left.
Secondly, you have 5N on the right.

The remaining forces acting on the object is 2N because 7N - 5N = 2N.
The net force on the left cancel out the force onto the right.
Therefore, you have 2N acting on the object.
