A planet X has a mass that is half the mass of the earth, and a radius that is half the radius of the earth. What is the acceleration due to gravity on the surface of this planet in m/s^2?

Please also explain how to solve this problem.

Force goes up directly with the mass of the planet and down with the inverse square of the radius. So, the mass would multiply by .5 and the radius would divide by .5^2.

.5/(.5^2) = 2 times the earths gravity

so earths acceleration is 9.8 so this is 19.6
