Examples: 1/1 2/2 3/3 4/4. Are these proper fractions, improper fractions, or mixed numbers?

They are whole numbers because if you simplify them you will get 1, but they are also technically improper fractions because they can only be proper if the numerator is less than the denominator, which is not the case here. However, you are best off calling them whole numbers, because that's what they are.

These are improper fractions.

A proper fraction has the numerator < denominator.

An improper fraction has the numerator ? denominator.

And a mixed number is an integer with a fraction (like if I say 2 1/2 cups, meaning 2.5 cups).



Note: Usually, a fraction with the same numerator and denominator is called "1" ... Face with Stuck-out Tongue

These are just regular fractions that = 1

An improper fraction is numerator > denominator" 21/3 = 7,

Mixed fraction is a whole number plus a fraction  (see the improper fraction 22/3) = 7 1/3 mixed fraction
