If you were the leader of the dominant party of an authoritarian regime that allows multi-party elections, and were planning for an upcoming presidential election, you would not consider:
a.   what the most effective ways of ensuring a ruling party victory are.
b.   which opposition candidates should be allowed to run and which should be disqualified.
c.   in the highly unlikely event that the opposition candidate wins the most votes, if you should concede office or manipulate the vote to show that you won.
