1,2,3,4 -- The patient is in great danger of hypoxia and other complications if the seizure is not stopped. Initiate oxygen via the nasal cannula at the bedside. Call respiratory therapy stat so that a therapist can come to the aid of the nurse and help manage the airway and breathing. Call the physician stat in order to inform them of the emergent situation and to seek orders. Hang the IV of normal saline in anticipation that an open IV line will expedite administering the medication that will likely be ordered to stop the seizure.
