During the bimanual examination the patient’s uterus the nurse notes that the uterus is tilted toward the back. Concerned, the patient questions the nurse. What information may be provided to the patient?
1. The uterus of a patient who has carried a child to term is frequently in a tilted back position.
2. The back tilt uterine positioning is common and not considered a remarkable abnormality.
3. The uterus of patient’s having fibroid tumors frequently tilts back under the weight of the tumors.
4. The back tilt of the uterus is consistent with the presence of a pregnancy in the second or third trimester.

2 -- A woman’s uterus may be positioned in a back-angled position. This is not considered a major abnormality. This anatomical positioning of the uterus is not related to pregnancy or the presence of fibroid tumors.
