the Nuclear Reactor forever or is the radiation removed from the water before the water is disposed of as waste water?

The radioactive substances in the water are filtered out, and mixed into a special glass or cement.  However, the cement has to stored for many thousands of years in a safe place, and we're still trying to figure out how to do that.  Especially considering that not even nations last that long!
