A correlation is a relationship between two variables while a causation shows that changes in the dependent variable are caused by changes in the independent variable. Every causation creates a correlation, but not every correlation is a proof of causation. Manipulative experiments try to establish cause. Natural experiments typically are able to establish only correlation.
