The pharmacist is preparing to discuss an antifungal medication nystatin with an adult patient. The pharmacist also has a PO medication to dispense to this patient. How should the patient take these medications?

1.   Give the PO medication first.
2.   Give the PO medicine to the patient, and allow the patient to swallow the medication with the nystatin.
3.   Give the nystatin first.
4.   It does not matter which medication is given first.
