Malfunctions associated directly or indirectly with the temporomandibular joint (TMJ) may cause problems like tic douloureaux. How would this happen and what branch of what cranial nerve would generate the pain? How is it treated?

It the trigeminal nerve that's responsible for this  The trigeminal nerve is a paired cranial nerve that has three major branches: the ophthalmic nerve (V1), the maxillary nerve (V2), and the mandibular nerve (V3). One, two, or all three branches of the nerve may be affected.
