1.  Be able to explain why we think DNA replicates by the semiconservative model.  Be able to show how the results of the below experiment would have been different if DNA replicates by the conservative model.

Experimental support for the Watson-Crick hypothesis came in 1958 when Matthew Meselson and Franklin Stahl devised a clever experiment that suggested that DNA replication is semiconservative (Figure 1(a)) and not conservative (Figure 1(b)).
