How did established residents in areas that saw large population increases during the war years react to the newcomers?
 
  a. They welcomed white workers but believed that blacks were causing a decline in the standard of living and in the moral atmosphere.
  b. They welcomed blacks, as long as they stayed in segregated areas.
  c. They welcomed both whites and blacks because the new population contributed greatly to improving the local economy.
  d. They accused all newcomers, regardless of race, of being ignorant and criminally inclined to poor morals.
