Caffeine is a nonpolar molecule. What is the most likely method by which it is absorbed into cells?

   A. Diffusion.

   B. Receptor-mediated endocytosis.

   C. Active transport.

   D. Pinocytosis.

   E. Facilitated diffusion.

A genetic profile of Ben showed that one copy of his chromosome 9 carried a gene for susceptibility to skin cancer (melanoma) plus a gene for susceptibility to blood cancer (leukemia). His other copy of chromosome 9 carried healthy alleles. If a sperm was produced from a meiotic division in which crossing over failed to occur on chromosome 9, what alleles would that sperm carry?

   A. Both disease alleles.

   B. Neither disease allele.

   C. Any of (a), (b), or (c).

   D. One healthy and one disease allele.

   E. Either (a) or (b).

It is unlikely that you will catch distemper from your cat. What is one mechanism that could render some viruses host-specific?

   A. They reproduce using DNA or RNA.

   B. They must shed their coats prior to reproduction.

   C. They have protein capsids.

   D. They must trigger endocytosis of a unique cell membrane.

   E. They cannot penetrate cell walls.

Thanks in advance for any help! I'll post the answers once I submit my test for everyone else!

I'm going to  E. Facilitated diffusion.

What are your guesses?

I'm actually thinking it's just diffussion.
Here's why I'm thinking that

lipophilic, nonpolar chemicals dissolve in the lipid bilayer. Simultaneously, some of the molecules are leaving the lipid bilayer. The net result is that chemicals cross the membrane until the concentrations of chemical molecules on both sides of the membrane are equal and there is no net flow of molecules across the cell membrane (diffusion)

Since it's nonpolar it doesn't need the help of carriers..
that's my thinking at least.

True, but isn't caffeine too large of a molecule for that?

Ok, well it is larger than a water molecule...so I think maybe my best guess is facilitated diffussion..your original answer....
I'm so done with this question
