Long-hair in cats is due to the recessive long-hair allele, l. Black cats (rather than tabbies) are due to the recessive agouti allele, a. You wish to deduce the genotype of a short-haired tabby female cat. What are all the possible genotypes this female could be at the long-hair and agouti loci? What is the genotype and phenotype of the male cat you should use in a testcross? What are the phenotypic ratios expected from this testcross for each of the possible female genotypes?

Sara, I found this answer from another website:

Using just the information in this problem,

The female could be LLAA, LlAA, LLAa or LlAa

The male would have to be llaa

LLAA X llaa Rightwards Arrow All LlAa, shorthair agouti
LlAA X llaa Rightwards Arrow 1/2 short agouti, 1/2 long agouti
LLAa X llaa Rightwards Arrow 1/2 short agouti, 1/2 short black
LlAa X llaa Rightwards Arrow 1/4 short agouti, 1/4 short black, 1/4 long agouti, 1/4 long black
Ask another question, I may be able to help!
