If a patients Cardiac Output was 5( L/min) End Diastolic Volume was 140 (ml)
Mean Arterial Pressure = 120 (mmHg)Heart rate = 70
What would the Stroke Volume be?? I know the formula for SV
is End Diastolic Volume - End Systolic Volume but how do I figure out the ESV??

Use these formulas.

  • Cardiac Output = Heart Rate X Stroke Volume
  • CO = HR X SV
  • Stroke Volume = End-Diastolic Volume - End-Systolic Volume
  • SV = EDV - ESV
