What traits or actions do you consider as a good friend?

Though commonly known by the public as a painter, Leonardo da Vinci is as relevant to science as he was to the arts. During the Renaissance, da Vinci worked on anatomical studies that were ahead of his time. He sketched anatomical figures of the human body that brought awareness to a higher population of people than ever before. The detail and realism of da Vinci’s anatomical pieces changed the way people understood the body as prior artwork appeared to be “cartoony” compared to his. During the 1480s, da Vinci took on the studies of anatomy and has even dissected bodies of both humans and animals. Giovanni Borelli, often known as the “father of biomechanics,” simply put it that “the main point of our muscles is less about strength, and more about movement.” (Films Media Group.) On top of analyzing movement, Borelli analyzed human organs as well. Borelli calculated volume of the lungs as well as the force of a pumping heart. (Films Media Group.) Even though Borelli’s insights on the human body were broken down in the simplest terms, his ideas still hold a strong value in today’s world. The most fundamental tool that revolutionized the understanding of cells is the microscope. The researching of cells resurfaced in the mid-19th century. Understanding that cells can only come from other cells and that all life is made up of cells are two fundamental ideas that came from the assistance of the microscope.
