Discussion Question 4 Genetic Testing 1. Turner Syndrome and Down Syndrome are non-inherited disease. These are disorders caused totally or in part by a fault of the genetic material passed from parent to child. The genes for these disorders are passed from one generation to the next, and children born with a heritable genetic disorder often have one or more extended family members with the same disorder. They are also genetic disorders that appear due to spontaneous faults in the genetic material, in which case a child is born with a disorder with no apparent family history. Cystic Fibrosis and Sickle Cell Anemia are the inherited diseases. They are all passed along from the parents and even if the parents don't show signs of the disease that they may be carrying which means that all of the children they have may be born with the disease. 2. Time already came and went for me. I already have two daughters and no we didn’t have genetic testing done. It was something we didn’t discuss at all. We believe in loving and caring for the child we were blessed with o matter what. I believe parents already know what disease run in their family and when certain issues come up they inform the doctor. I believe it would be helpful for that were adopted not knowing any one in their family. When individuals get, sick and need medical attention, one of the questions you always get asked is does anybody in your family having the following (heart disease, high blood pressure, etc.). By knowing these types of information, it can help the doctors not only check out why your sick now but maybe look for other issues that may come up do to your family history. Being able to diagnosis early medical issues can save peoples life’s.
