After reading the chapter, listening to Radio Lab, and reading all of the interesting blogs, I found the blog “8 Fascinating Facts About Anxiety” extremely intriguing. Anxiety is a feeling that everyone faces daily and I never realized the true effects it could have. I could not believe the first fact that anxiety heightens bad smells. Who knew that a mere feeling could trigger specific odors? As I kept reading down the list, one fact specifically stood out to me. Exercise helps reduce anxiety. When I am anxious or worrying about a situation, the first thing I think of doing is running or working out. Going to the gym gives me a sense of relief from my life problems, and I never knew why. Researchers even believe that exercise, rather than drugs, could be prescribed for patients with depression and anxiety. Now I know that every time I am having feelings of anxiety I should go exercise in order to relieve my stress and worries.
