With the Internet now being in homes all across America and the world, it has had a major effect on how businesses compete with one another. The world largest retail store, Wal-Mart, cannot continue to dominate the market unless it embraces the power and reach of e-commerce.   With the ability to buy products from the Internet, companies now have more competition. Think of how many people in the world who have access to Amazon every day to purchase products.  Amazon organization would not be able to thrive as it does today if it were not for the Internet.   The Internet has caused companies to compete with each other by having websites to draw in their current customers and expand to new markets. Companies with websites can draw in more customers than those without websites or Internet access.  For instance, Rome does not have a Wal-Mart. However, I can purchase a product from Rome by viewing Wal-Mart’s website; whereas, a company with no website and offering the same products could not earn my business.   Not only does the Internet impact the way organizations reach their current customers and new customers, organizations compete finding new employees by posting jobs on either their website or job source website. In addition, organizations also compete with each other by using the Internet for advertisement time and space.   Next time you are on the Internet pay attention to how many ads pop-up on your computer or off to the side at the web page you are viewing.
