Peripheral edema.

Description
This physician knows that fluid-filled soft tissues in the feet and lower legs can be a sign of right-sided congestive heart failure. He will also examine the neck veins to look for jugular venous distention, another sign of right-sided congestive heart failure. He will also use a stethoscope to listen to the lungs to detect pulmonary edema, a sign of left-sided heart failure.
