REM Sleep and Learning

Description
Only after a 90-minute nap that included both slow-wave sleep and REM sleep was an improvement seen in the subjects’ performance on a nondeclarative visual discrimination task. (Based on data from Mednick, Nakayama, and Strickgold, 2003.)
