Hellenistic Greece

Description
Alexander the Great created a Greek empire that extended from the Greek mainland and Egypt across Asia Minor and as far east as India.

Athens was defeated by Sparta in 404 BCE, then regained independence without returning to dominance in the realm of political and military status.
Alexander the Great succeeded Philip II and led Greece in a war of revenge against the Persians.
Despite changing political conditions, Greek artists experimented widely.
