Side view of a jumping spider making a leap

Description
When a large muscle in the thorax contracts, volume of the thoracic cavity decreases, forcing blood into the hind legs. The resulting surge of high fluid pressure extends the legs. Some jumping spiders can leap a distance 25 times the length of their body.
