Feedback
A Infants have the anatomical and functional requirements for pain processing by middle to late gestation.
B It is a misconception that infants lack memory of pain. Early exposure to noxious stimuli may have an effect on the infant's future responses to painful events.
C It is a misconception that pain cannot be accurately assessed. Behavioural cues and physiological indicators of pain can be reliably and validly assessed either alone or in combination.
D It is a misconception that infants are not capable of expressing pain. Although infants cannot verbalize pain, they do respond with behavioural cues and physiological indicators that can be observed by others.
