I'm having difficulty deciphering x-intercept

y = 2(x+2)^2+4

0 = 2(x+2)^+4
0 = 2(x^2+4x+4)+4
0 = 2x^2+8x+8+4
0 = 2x^2+8x+12

Am I doing this wrong?
