I have a parabola, and I need to find the function. I only know the vertex and the y-intercept.

Suppose the vertex is (2, 5) and the y-intercept is (0, 1).
A parabola's equation is y = a(x - h)^2 + k
Substitute (2, 5) for (h, k) and (0, 1) for (x, y) and solve for a.
1 = a(0 - 2)^2 + 5
1 = 4a + 5
a = -1
y = -(x - 2)^2 + 5
