Many restaurants utilize a tip pooling arrangement, in which tips are shared proportionally by the employees (hosts, waiters, bussers) who collectively serve guests. Assume one of your service employees refuses to share his tips.

Who would you contact to determine your right to force his participation in your operation's tip pooling arrangement?

Like the preceding question, this question is designed to illustrate another type of difficult decision managers often must make when they operate their businesses. In this example, as in the previous question, managers would no doubt seek legal advice before proceeding. Again, good sources of such legal advice may include the operation's own attorney, professional trade associations such as the National Restaurant Association (NRA) or, if the operation is part of a chain, human resource professionals employed by the chain.
