What is the current recommendation for parents that give birth to a child with ambiguous genitalia?

  a. Decide on the type of surgery to perform as soon as possible, as it is best for the infant to have no memory of the procedure and is the best current option available.
  b. The parents should do nothing; addressing the situation will ultimately send a message to their child that something is wrong with them.
  c. Observe the baby as he/she grows to determine their natural inclinations toward either a more feminine or masculine role, then decide on sex assignment surgery by age two.
  d. Consult with geneticists, endocrinologists, psychologists, and other intersexed individuals to determine the best solution for the child.
