C
The benefits of research can be benefits to the individual (for example learning about research of feeling good because they helped the researcher) or to society (by eventual application of the knowledge gained).

A
Although it may not always be possible, the rule of thumb is to resolve any discomfort as soon as possible, preferably before the participants complete their participation.

B
Most research in psychology is minimal risk research. Such research MAY include temporary mild stresses, but these will be resolved by the end of the participants' participation.

D
No-risk studies always involve anonymity and can involve naturalistic observations of public behaviors or archival data.

Determinism is the belief that all events have causes, even if those cause are unknown. Betty's statement reflects the belief that something is causing her to be upset even though she doesn't know what it is.
