Hi Guys

I am a student teacher and looking for some fun, interactive and generally awesome activities to teach mitosis, meiosis and basic genetics.  It would be truly great if you have had a good teacher with good activities or worksheets or anything if you could let me know the ideas!  I promise to help u with ur homework if you help out!!

Cheers

Hi,

You could gather half your students in a line. Each student represents a chromosome. After replication, you bring up the second half of the class and have each student in the line stand next to another student. For example, say you have 6 students (X); the first three go up:

X
X
X

Now, after DNA replication, the other three come up and stand next to the students already standing:

X X
X X
X X

During mitosis, the replicated DNA split into two new daughter cells. At this point, have the students split into two new groups.

Does that make sense Smiling Face with Open Mouth

Hi

It is for Australian year 10 students.  They have finished mitosis and meiosis and are moving on to Mendelian genetics on Monday.  Finishing animal reproduction today.

Cheers
